The conference addressed evolving acquisition trends shaping the government contracting industry. ACT I CEO, Michael Niggel, introduced Ms. Arrington at PSC’s Federal Acquisition Conference on June 13, 2019. Ms. Arrington is a Highly Qualified Expert for Cyber. In this capacity, she aligns the Department of Defense’s (DoD) acquisition cyber strategy.
Ms. Arrington provided an overview of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) which is the proposed DoD standard to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the defense industrial base and security across the supply chain.
In introducing Ms. Arrington, Mr. Niggel described her as the driving force behind the CMMC. He noted Ms. Arrington’s experience in the defense industry and service in South Carolina’s legislature provides her a unique insight into the challenges in developing the standards for security the DoD supply chain. Once adopted, the CMMC will have a significant effect on companies competing for DoD contracts, contracting officials, and certifying and auditing entities. The DoD plans to release a draft of the CMMC in July. The CMMC is scheduled to be released as the DoD’s standard for supply chain cyber security in January 2020.
