On Saturday, December 16, 2017, ACT I employees and family members participated in the 26th annual Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery. Tens of thousands volunteers place over 240,000 wreaths at each and every veteran’s headstone.
The ACT I wreath-laying team met at the Crystal City office and caravanned to the Pentagon parking lot. Braving temperatures in the mid-20s, we prepared for our walk to Arlington National Cemetery. The team placed dozens of wreaths on Veterans’ grave sites, pausing to speak the person’s name and take a minute to think about the person and their individual sacrifice. We also visited gravesites of those who have family members buried in Arlington National.
The ACT I employees and family members who participated enjoyed the meaningful experience and plan to participate again next year as part of ACT I’s tradition of community focus.
The Wreaths Across America program places 1.2 million wreaths at more than 1,200 cemeteries across the country.
