ACT I Names Catherine Urban Chief Financial Officer

ACT I, an industry-leading provider of Total Program/Acquisition Management and Security Cooperation Solutions across the Aviation, Homeland Security, Business Technologies, and Intelligence Solutions markets, today announced the promotion of Catherine Urban to Chief Financial Officer.  Urban, who previously served as ACT I’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer, brings decades of experience as a financial and business operations leader to the role, and now leads ACT I’s entire financial enterprise, including Controller, Pricing, Program Control, and Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy.  She will report to ACT I CEO Michael Niggel.

ACT I’s previous Chief Financial Officer, Mark Hughes, will remain with the company and serve as Executive Advisor to the organization’s senior leadership team.  Hughes will continue to bring his 40+ years of operational, acquisition, and financial expertise in advising ACT I leadership on strategic planning, growth, and acquisition opportunities.

Ms. Urban brings over 20 years of government contracting experience to ACT I with portfolios of federal contracts across Information Technology, Engineering, Aerospace, and Missile Defense. Most recently, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Unisys Federal where she led financial organization scaling for revenue growth of over 25% year-over-year, including a period of serving concurrently as CFO and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Unisys, she served as Vice President, Business Operations and Finance for Arctic Slope Regional Corporation Federal Holding Company, where she led the full financial lifecycle management of a $650M annual revenue portfolio. 

Earlier in her career, Ms. Urban served as Chief Financial Officer of Mission Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of CSC, which resulted in an acquisition by Arctic Slope Regional Corporation Federal Holding Company. At CSC, Ms. Urban served as acting Finance Administration Director.

Catherine graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Providence College and holds a Master of Business Administration from Marymount University. She is a strong advocate for women in leadership and has participated on the Board for CSC’s Management Club, ASRC Federal’s Women Networking Group, and the inaugural Inclusion & Diversity Council at Unisys. She participates in multiple women in government contracting groups as well as a regional CFO roundtable. She and her husband, Darin, live in Northern Virginia with their three children.
