As we welcome Black History Month, ACT I knows the importance of recognizing and understanding the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans to the history, present day, and future of America.
More than simply celebrating the famous or the exceptional, we aspire to explore all facets of the impact of African Americans on and in this country. This month we encourage everyone to examine the journey of African Americans, explore and learn more about this nation’s story, past and present, and find ways to celebrate and appreciate the rich tapestry. Together, we can use history to learn about the successes, struggles, and sacrifices of African Americans.
The interest and activities of Black History Month are more than a celebration of one community; all Americans, regardless of race, are shaped in profound ways by the African American experience.
